REINER A cold wind raced over the valley, whistling through the trees as a red colored wolf made his way through the wood's frail pines. It was early in the day, not too hot for a summer morning. Yet it was with a faltering, half stepping gait that the wolf proceeded through the trees, eyes casting heavily glances about him as if he expected the trees to turn enemy and attack. His back left leg was pulled up against his body, a large wound ripped through the fur. Crack. A small pigeon flew up through the tree tops, startled at the sudden noise. With a small growl he stopped, peering uneasily through the trees.
"Whose there?"
After a moment of silence the brute carried on with his blundering movement through the forest, his breathing heavy and slow. Ever since he had come to Ravensbrück, or whatever it was that those mange-pelts had called it, he hated it. Hated it all. It reminded him too much of Sobibor, of his past pack. It reminded him of her. Besides that, he couldn't find a way out of this stupid forest for the life of him. The male started up a cursing of somesort, just under his breath before his voice grew louder, accusing the bare woods before him.
"You brought me here, didn't you?"
Raged pulsed through his veins, urging him to run. Faster, faster. It called to him, ordering him to run, to get away. With a disconcerted howl that jumped off his lips and leaped up into the wind before cutting off abrumptly, the male plunged forward, slowed only by his one wounded leg that dangled at his side. He threw more curses at the air as he pounded forward, his heartbeat thudding loudly through his chest. It was a strange sensation, the hotheaded emotions that coursed through him. She was gone! Oh, his love was gone!
It was then that her image appeared before him. The brute slowed, his eyes not believing what they were seeking. It was impossible. She was dead. He blinked a few times to make sure his eyes weren't playing tricks. Dead or not, she was beautiful, stunning as she had been in life. With a jolt, the male realized his memory of her had done her no justice. Those eyes that flashed before him, that dazzling blue hue. He couldn't forget any of her. He'd tried enough times to leave her memory behind, in his old pack, to deparingly come to that resounding conclusion. With a snarl he narrowed his eyes at the hallucination, pulling his ears flat back to his nack, baring his teeth. He wanted nothing to do with her. His crimson haunches rolled beaneath him, readying for a good lunge for her white neck. She'd caused so much pain. Oh, how he had loved her...
"Oh, Reiner."
How long had he waited to hear her whisper his name once more? Her coo silenced Reiner's previous growls of hostility; instead of leapng for her throat, he paused before moving a few steps closer, his grey eyes calming as the seconds lapsed into minues, soothed by her velvet voice. Her slim body moved towards him, silky white fur mixing with his crimson color. He imagined that she flicked him gently on the nose with her tail, her paws kneading the ground daintly, playing with him as he waited for her to say more.
"You won't hurt me will you?"
"What? Never!"
Reiner stepped closer to her, pressing himself into her, soaking in her scent. The cool breeze of the morning swept over him, wild and playful like the lillies that had decorated his previous pack's territory. How long ago those days seemed. Reiner growled softly, gazing into her eyes as he tried to settled her fears.
"I'll never hurt you. I love you, Sicoya."
"Liar!"
With a bold twist of her frame, Sicoya spun on her paws to face hin, moonlight fur rippling as she bared her teeth in a snarl. Her blue eyes flared before him, glaring, accusing.
"You chose them over me! I would have done anything for you! I would have died for you if you as so much as whispered it, Reiner. And that meant nothing to you!"
Reiner backed up as she stalked forward, her eyes piercing him. He hadn't meant it! It had all been too confusing, too much for him to deal with. He had reacted as he had been instructed. Reiner looked at her gently, his voice soft as he spoke.
"I didn't have a choice! I'm sorry!"
Whatever softness he held for the vixen, she didn't see, or possibly refused, to acknowledge it. The she-wolf's eyes looked pained, as if she'd been dealt a hard blow.
I know now that you never loved me, Reiner."
With a bitter tone, she spat the words at him, growling in a mixed sense of denial. And then she was gone. Her lovely features and chiseled face, gone. Those blue eyes, gone. Reiner sank the ground, ignoring the screaming pain from his mangled leg as he allowed his limb to hit the dirt. She was all he'd ever had. And now she was gone.
"I'm sorry Sicoya, I'm s-sorry..."

Hayashi All of my memories keep you near, In silent moments, imagine you here...[/blockquote] The leaves were becoming familiar, the trees, the grass. The scents, the rocks, and the hills were all striking recognition in her mind as she passed them. Hayashi had not been in this territory long, and she still felt a disconnection toward it. But things were becoming clearer, staying in her mind. She knew how to maneuver her way around now, and was getting accustomed to the land slowly, but surely. However, it didn't feel like ... home. To her, home was still the lands of Sobibor, curled in an amiable cave in Hrellia, with pups snuggled underneath her silky fur. Hayashi still felt a deep yearning for her old life, and it pained her to think about how impervious it was.
She sauntered her way through the tall grass, tail down, head low. Hayashi was still mistrustful of this place, of these wolves. But what could you do? Honey paws delicately pressed into the grass, steps airy and graceful as she prowled. The cool morning breeze ruffled her fur, sending a strange sent swirling through her flared nostrils. The fem's head shot up, sapphire eyes glancing about. A wolf? Hayashi took off, lithe body stretching as her legs ate up the ground. Weeds, flowers, and tree branches whipped past her face as she flew, the sound filling her harks. But faintly, she could hear uneven footsteps over the rush. Voices. Angry voices. As she moved past the clearing into the gaunt forest, she slowed her sprint to a steady pace, listening intently for a sound, any sound.
"Whose there?"
Thinking she was caught, Hayashi came to a halt, her body upright, ears pointed forward. In the far distance, she could see a red wolf scouring the forest with intensity. But he wasn't facing her direction, and was much too far away. Confused, she crouched down, slinking into the nearby brush, crawling closer to the brute.
"You brought me here, didn't you?"
What was he talking about? Did he have someone with him? Peering through the leaves, Hayashi tried to find a neighboring wolf, but in vain. Who was he talking to? Interrupting her thoughts, she heard him burst into a sprint, hurtling toward her. She acknowledged his swinging hind leg, wondering why he was running that fast with it, that recklessly. And in another moment, he was stopped, a couple yards away from where Hayashi lie in wait. He looked blinded briefly, like he had seen the sun for the first time. Then he stood crouched, growling, snarling, angry. He appeared to be readying for an attack, to deliver a death blow. Then, as she blinked, his facade softened, turned protective rather than affronted. The brute took a few steps, wrapping himself around something clearly not visible. He looked vulnerable, stricken.
"What? Never!"
"I'll never hurt you. I love you, Sicoya."
And yet after that thought passed through her mind, she watched his body back up, expression full of hurt. What was going on? He seemed to wince, like someone was spitting at him, belittling him. And seconds later, the brute appeared to crumble before her, all anger shown before now foreign to him.
Hayashi considered leaving him there. In all honesty, she did. For all she knew, this wolf was rabid, crazy, and why should she want him? She was done with the drama that came with it all, it wasn't worth the effort. However, her soft heart won over her hard mind, and she felt sympathy for the stranger. She rose up from her crouched position, lifting her head high as she stepped out delicately from the brush. Hayashi flitted over to where the brute lay, disheartened, her eyes on his pulsing wound. She stood above him a moment, observing, her sympathy showing through her stern gaze. Something seemed familiar about him, but she couldn't place it, and she wasn't sure she wanted to.
"Stranger, what brings you here in this... troubled state? You've caused quite a ruckus in my lands."
Honey-laden vocals filled the silent air, piercing the weight that seemed to drift about them. Hayashi blinked her sapphire eyes, soft fur ruffling in the calm breeze as she waited curiously for the brute's response.

REINER "Stranger, what brings you here in this... troubled state? You've caused quite a ruckus in my lands."
A sweet voice flicked at Reiner from behind as he lay on the ground, his eyes clamped shut as her image died in his mind's eye. The male turned his russet head to view the she-wolf, her scent betraying her Alpha status. He realized with a start that the piece of measly ground he was occupying at that moment was indeed hers, covered in her aroma and draped with the scent of woodland pines that sprawled around them. With another sniff he realized the scent of her was new; she must have just claimed or been appointed to the position. Either way, it wasn't much his business and Reiner swiftly replied with an apologetic glance at the cream female.
"I hadn't known I was so deep in an established territory."
It was a feeble excuse and he knew it. Reiner sheepishly grinned at the supposed Alpha, his grey eyes darting off to where he had last seen Sicoya's likeness.
"I had thought I'd seen someone I knew before... But it seems I was mistaken."
With one last sweeping gaze over the ground, Reiner turned away, picking himself up carefully as to not seem as a sly intruder to the she-wolf. Reiner wasn't sure her temperament at the moment, and although he briefly thought he'd smelled that she was in heat, the male knew better than to assume things he didn't know for a fact. Heck, he was tired and half starved, his stomach growling with indignation at the loss of food. He couldn't even trust his senses when his mind was so entangled with those stupid, raging emotions. Reiner pulled his ears back at the noise his stomach made, embarrassed that he had been unable to feed himself in what seemed such a pleasantly plentiful season.
Silence enveloped the two as the first signs of heat bore over them, laying heavy on the air, intensifying the conversation. What should he say? Part of him wished for at least a place to spend the night, maybe a warm meal if this she-wolf was generous. Pfft. What Alpha had he ever known to be generous? Xercese had probably been the closest thing to a somewhat decent leader, but the way he'd left the pack in shambles made the hair on Reiner's fur bristle. Hayashi had been too good for that ignorant piece of dirt. Then again, he too had fled the pack as soon as the Alpha, only he had left because the closeness of Micara was dangerous, and the thoughts and dreams of Sicoya had begun to haunt him again. Her beautiful eyes always came fleeting back to him, stronger than the last time...
Reiner stopped his thoughts midsentance. He needed to move on from her. If he just stopped thinking about her all day maybe things would get better. Reiner sighed, taking the time to glance at the she-wolf as a barrier for his spiraling thoughts. She was pretty enough, well kept with honey drizzled fur and black claws to match. As he looked her over, a small feeling crept through him, small at first before growing persistent. He knew her! But where had he seen her before? Reiner steadily surveyed her face now, completely oblivious to the fact that she might take offense to his staring game. Those blue eyes! They flashed cerulean colors, bright, bold against her lighter fur.
Reiner's mind swam. Her name was floating on the tip of his tongue but he said nothing, thinking about what she might be thinking. I probably look like a runaway slave... With a jolt Reiner considered his appearance; the mangled leg, the blood crusted wounds, the ruffled fur sticking out in random places. He could only imagine her thoughts that would be jumping through her mind. Still, he swallowed his dignity for a moment, opening his blackened maw to inquire about her name.
"...Haven't I seen you before?"

Hayashi No remorse because I still remember, the smile when you tore me apart ...[/blockquote] Hayashi continued to peer at the crumbled wolf, watching the expressions flash across his face. He looked shocked to see an Alpha standing above him, shocked to hear that this was indeed her lands. The brute glanced at her apologetically, but Hayashi wasn't fooled quite yet. Something didn't add up about this wolf, and she wasn't sure where she stood with him. Why was he running blindly through foreign lands? Didn't he know he could get killed?
"I hadn't known I was so deep in an established territory."
Hayashi chuckled lightly, sapphire eyes sparkling at the male. Obviously, he didn't know where he was at all. However, it was a good attempt on his part.
"I had thought I'd seen someone I knew before... But it seems I was mistaken."
Another excuse, but Hayashi pushed it aside either way. She had no reason to hate this wolf, but rather mistrust him. But that could just be the cause of miscommunication between the pair. She didn't know what was going on in his mind, and had no reason to judge him for that. He faced away from her, rising off the ground slowly. Her eyes darted back to his irritated wound as he did so, bloodied and grimy. Being the type to worry, she felt the urge to help the brute. But surely he could take care of himself, right? She felt the exhale of his sigh on her cream fur, and tried not to ackowledge his eyes upon her. Hayashi was used to staring, but that didn't mean she enjoyed it. It made her feel degraded, like an object. It threw her mind back into her slavery days, being raped and beaten repeatedly every night. Being spit at, thrown down in the dirt for no reason. And all those dirty bastards would do was laugh, and stare. She tried to keep her fur from bristling as she shifted her gaze away. Out of the corner of her eye, she could see something pass his face, and look of recognition. He started more intently now, peering into her face like he owned the world. Hayashi brought her gaze back to him, locking eyes with a glare, her body rigid. A subtle warning growl bubbled underneath her throat, uneasy of being speculated.
"...Haven't I seen you before?"
Hayashi subdued her hostility, but her facade never softened. Sure, something was familiar about him, but she had seen so many wolves pass through her life. He could easily look just like one of the others. The fem abruptly looked away, off into the emerald trees, the sun rising higher in the clear sky. The fog was clearing, and the songs of the birds were filling the silence of the land. She looked back at the male.
"No, I do not think we know each other, for I am new to these lands. I haven't been here long enough to acquire many acquaintances." She flicked her head delicately over her shoulder. "Come. You are wounded and hungry, and don't play dumb. You're lucky I didn't kill you on the spot running so blindly as you were."
Hayashi started off in the direction she came, not bothering to look back to see if he followed. It was no problem to her to catch a bite to eat for the male, or let him rest a while. She didn't have a pack to worry about, so there was nothing he could damage. Hayashi could easily take him in a fight with his injury, anyway. But that didn't mean he wouldn't be under close watch.
They passed through the tall grass, the birds chattering lightly overhead. Moments later, the land began to slope into a ravine, a place Hayashi found quite relaxing. A crystal-clear stream bubbled quietly, shadowed in shade from the surrounding trees. Bright chromatic flowers littered the edges of the stream, being picked at by time to time by delicate hummingbirds. Hayashi stepped off the bank onto a flat stone in the stream, and settled quietly on the rock. She stretched her honey muzzle out, lapping up the cool water, crystal eyes closed. Rising up, smooth vocals spoke again.
"My name is Hayashi. And who may you be, traveler?"

REINER As the sun rose higher into the sky, the female turned her delicate head away, gazing at the pines in thoughtful consideration. Reiner said nothing and sucked in his breath, inwardly afraid that he had offended her by his staring. What have I gotten myself into now?
"No, I do not think we know each other, for I am new to these lands. I haven't been here long enough to acquire many acquaintances."
Reiner said nothing before nodding his head deeply, an inward apology playing in his eyes. She probably thinks I'm crazy at this point. I'll be lucky to get out of here with my fur still on. The male sighed as she trotted away, tossing words at him from over her silken shoulder.
"Come. You are wounded and hungry, and don't play dumb. You're lucky I didn't kill you on the spot running so blindly as you were."
The intruder said nothing at first, a snarl playing on his lips for his foolishness. He should have been more careful; the dogs who had beat him up as a mistake for a slave could found him again and then where would he have been? A dead wolf. A very dead wolf. For the time being however, he found himself being thankful for the change in pace; he had been found by a rather respectable wolf and one who was willing to take him in and feed him; at least for tonight.
The pair padded on in silence, Reiner following the female with a limping gait, his breath becoming heavy as they made their way through the woods. It was comfortable here, although the pain in his leg was throbbing, the bite marks deep and well crusted with blood and a fresh layer of dirt and debris. As Reiner struggled along after the she-wolf, they came to an open gorge-like scene, flowers blossoming on the rough patches of grass that sprouted up here and there. A small creek bubbled below and Reiner huffed quietly as he made his way precariously down the steep side.
The beige female made her way to the stream bed first, lowering her sleek head while she drank the flowing water. Reiner crept closer only when he deemed it was appropriate; he didn't feel like stepping on her toes by being impolite when she had offered him a place to stay and a good meal. The female lifted her head when she had drank her fill and Reiner followed suit; he looked longingly at the clear water, wishing to drink more of the coolness but he refrained, instead listening to what she had to say.
"My name is Hayashi. And who may you be, traveler?"
Hayashi! Of course! Reiner 's eyes widened at her name, mind bouncing from one thing to another. She hadn't even recognized him! Granted, Reiner admitted that he probably wouldn't even know his own reflection if he'd looked into the clearest river. He trotted forward to stand in front of her, his muzzle closer to hers than he had meant it to be. Reiner was sure it would startle the vix, but she needed to hear what he had to say. His grey eyes bore into hers, looking serious as he spoke much bolder than he had before.
"When you say you are Hayashi, you are speaking of the same Hayashi who was Alpha of the Hrellia pack in Sobibor, yes?"
The male stood, his tail waving with an unsubdued liveliness, as he waited for her startled reaction. Maybe she would be able to guess now she knew that he did, in fact, know her. Reiner took a few steps back from the female's personal space, turning around slowly in a circle to possibly jog her memory.
Reiner had not grown much in his time away from Sobibor, although he did seem taller in such a way. He had gained more of a walking, trotting gait with his long legs, but whether it was simply from the many miles he had traveled or his growing older, Reiner neither knew nor cared. He had found his previous Alpha and that alone was all that mattered at the moment. But where was Xercese? Surely the female had left with her mate and pups? Those once little pups would be much older and larger by now Reiner knew, for they had been just born when he had left the pack all those moons ago. The missing picture of Xercese puzzled the male, and he noted in the back of his mind that he had not smelled the Alpha male either. Although, he hadn't smelt the border marker to begin with, which was certainly a hard edged mistake on his part.
The crimson male, however confused about the current standings of this pack, said nothing of Xercese's absence and instead tilted his head to the side with impatience. He then trotted forward, a look of mischief in his watchful eyes.
"Don't you remember?"
With a swift glance into her sparkling blue optics, he finished with his namesake.
"I'm Reiner."

Hayashi Promise me you'll try, to leave it all behind, because i've elected hell, lying to myself...[/blockquote] He seemed to have trouble getting on well, but Hayashi clamped her mouth shut as she watched him hobble down the slope. He shifted on the bank, soon following her gesture, drinking up the cool water before him. He finished long before he was ready, and peered down at the bubbling river with yearning. Polite, she supposed, but she wished he would become less tense and take more of what she offered. She wasn't being generous for nothing.
As she was studying the brute, a breath later he was suddenly close, way closer, eyes wide and right in her face. With a start, Hayashi jumped and crouched, a growl bubbling in her throat. Who did he think he was?
"When you say you are Hayashi, you are speaking of the same Hayashi who was Alpha of the Hrellia pack in Sobibor, yes?"
He looked like a little puppy, eyes wide and bright, tail wagging endlessly. And he did even more so as he ran in a circle before her, trying to accomplish who knows what. Hayashi waited, patiently, for him to back away from her to speak. She softened her posture, shaking her fur out lightly.
"Yes, yes I am." She paused, blinking at him with her bright eyes. "Why do you ask so earnestly?" Gazing at him, the remembrance of her homeland came back to her again. Her eyes misted over as she recalled her family and her pack, and the sweet lands of Hrellia. Hayashi had lost herself after Xercese left, and she certainly wasn't the Great Alphaess Hayashi after that. She took a sudden spiral downwards, and was broken, defeated. It wasn't the fact that he left once and broke her heart, it was that he left three different times and broke her heart again. And on the last time, he chose Mirage over her. That mangy Mirage, over her. That was the last straw into her leaving. Everything in the lands of Sobibor had reminded her of Xercese, so she had to leave. She had no choice, she was too wounded emotionally. Hayashi wasn't as strong as she thought.
The vix blinked her eyes clear and met his gaze as he plodded forward, trying hard to hide her pain.
"Don't you remember?"
"I'm Reiner."
The name struck a chord in her, but it still didn't quite click. Hayashi took a moment to look him over, but it was hard with how he appeared at this moment. She blinked, her mind swimming with names. He did look like someone, but who? Ren... Rin... Rem... Remorse? Remorse! The memory of him flooded her mind as she realized who he really was. The brooding male who was awfully quiet, but close to her dear friend Micara. Oh, Micara...
"Remorse? Well, I see we're a bit confused on what we'd like to be called, hmm?" She chuckled, but it felt empty. Hayashi's mind wandered on the change in calling. "Long time no see, friend."

REINER "Remorse? Well, I see we're a bit confused on what we'd like to be called, hmm? Long time no see, friend."
The response came and went, Reiner waiting for the excitement to bubble through him, waited for it to erupt into happiness and joy at finding his long lost Alpha of Hrellia. Yet nothing sprouted through him, no response, no emotion. The air was tight and dragging as he contemplated what response to give the beige female. He had missed the company of his pack, the only place he had ever felt some sense of partiality towards. Xercese had always given him a welcoming place to stay, Hayashi had given her joint leadership with her mate to him and the pack, Micara had given him something of a now lost friendship...
Micara. Her name ripped through him like fire as he started to remember her. It had pained him to leave her, after she had found out his real name, found out a small portion of the real him. Still, she had probed him and helped him along the narrow road forgiving himself. She was the closest thing he would ever have to a friend. She had been the only one to ever know him as he knew himself. Was it time for Hayashi to know him as the murderer he was? To Hayashi he would certainly seem out of his wits--if not lost completely--that was all too certain. But would it be wise to tell his Alpha that he had lied all those weeks ago? Weeks that had long faded into ever lasting months. He was by no means a traitor; his loyalty would always be towards the wolves of Hrellia. They had been his only family.
With a deep breath he spoke the truth. Please let her understand.
"Hayashi, I need to confide in you a lie I created concerning my origins before joining your pack."
Reiner stood tall now, his frame quaking slightly, but not enough that the opposing she-wolf would notice. Would she listen to him now or drive him away? No matter; this needed to be spoken aloud. The male dipped his crimson head slowly in respect, nodding towards a nearby tree. Maybe they could lay down and discuss this as something of equals. As close companions.
As the wind blew over the land below Reiner made his way towards a towering elm tree, his breath shallow. It was now or never. Grey eyes swirled in the makings of an internal storm, clear about the battle that raged within him. He had never told his whole story to anyone. Not even Micara... It was with a steady breath and a closing of his eyes in silent remembrance that he began to speak, his voice low.
"Before I tell you my story, please try to understand what I went through. I always meant to tell you and Xercese sooner..."
Lost in thought for a moment, Reiner's voice trailed off to a small mutter before he shook his head and continued on, his voice stronger this time.
"My name is Reiner, not Remorse, or Polaris, or anything else I have ever tried to stumble along by. I took those up to cover the wolf that I had become."
He grew distant, as if looking deeply at a starry night sky that was clouded over.
"Before I joined Hrellia--well to be correct--before I had set one paw on Sobibor's lands I belonged to a pack of ruthless fighting males. I met Sicoya there. I'm sure you've heard me meantion her name before, if not twice."
It was with a wince Reiner glanced at Hayashi.
"I killed her. She was my everything. She was all I had ever loved. But I struck her down, delivered the killing blow."
The words were tumbling out of his mouth, unstoppable as the memories flooded over him, the grief as raw as the night of her blessed passing.
"I had killed her. Her and her beautiful coat of silken white and the bluest orbs I've ever seen."
Reiner's eyes had glazed over in agony.
"I ran. I ran so far, as if I would be able to escape her eyes. Oh the way they taunted me! I prayed to the Gods, I prayed to anyone that I would forget her face that haunted me from there on out. I changed my name, stopped grooming myself. I fell into decline. I didn't give a damn about anything. I just had to forget her."
The male's head had fallen during his speech and he raised it now with a struggling determination that ripped through his limbs.
"And then I was welcomed into Hrellia. None of you knew of my past, of the terror that had haunted me from the start of her ending. It seemed like the perfect ideal."
A hint of regret and a tinge of sorrow had entered his voice.
"I am sorry, Hayashi of Hrellia. I hope you can find it in yourself to forgive my misdeeds."
It was with a sadness that Reiner got up, his leg throbbing in pain at being moved the slightest bit. Would she be upset enough to drive him off or would she find compassion to forgive him after all these lies toppled over?
ooc- sorry for the wait. crappy in my opinion. bah.

Hayashi They say that true love hurts, well this could almost kill me, young love murder, that is what this must be, i would give it all to not be sleeping alone...[/blockquote] Hayashi studied him, blue orbs tracing over the outlines of his now tense figure. He didn't even act relieved when she remembered him, like he was begging for her to do moments ago. No emotion seemed to pass through the wolf in front of her, but yet he looked thoughtful, distant. He was somewhere else, she knew, reliving the good days. The days where worries didn't exist, where everyone was a big, happy family. As she thought about it now, it seemed impossible for life to ever be so easy, to ever be so fulfilled. In Hrellia, she truly was content. She had everything that she was always promised she could never have as a slave. Things they told her she was not worthy for. Her chains had been broken, and her soul had been set free. But in another moment, her fluttering dreams had been crushed.
His deep breath broke her thoughts, and Hayashi blinked as she focused back on Reiner.
"Hayashi, I need to confide in you a lie I created concerning my origins before joining your pack."
In all honesty, Hayashi wasn't surprised by the words tumbling out of his mouth. From the day Reiner stepped onto her land, Hayashi knew something didn't quite click with this wolf. He acted mysterious, distant, like he had something to hide. Respecting his feelings, she never asked or pestered him about being that way. Although she thought it rude, she didn't try to change him. He lowered his head, his facade softening as he readied himself for what he was planning to say. He rose off the ground, moving to rest under a large elm nearby. Hayashi lithely leaped after, sitting beside him.
"Before I tell you my story, please try to understand what I went through. I always meant to tell you and Xercese sooner..."
He said his name. Oh, that name... Hayashi squeezed her eyes shut, shivering in the pain that flashed through her heart. It was amazing that after all this time, he was a part of her in every way he had been before.
"My name is Reiner, not Remorse, or Polaris, or anything else I have ever tried to stumble along by. I took those up to cover the wolf that I had become."
Hayashi opened her eyes, shifting her position to gaze at the wolf, intrigued.
"Before I joined Hrellia--well to be correct--before I had set one paw on Sobibor's lands I belonged to a pack of ruthless fighting males. I met Sicoya there. I'm sure you've heard me mention her name before, if not twice."
All she did was nod lightly. She still thought him a little off in the head.
"I killed her. She was my everything. She was all I had ever loved. But I struck her down, delivered the killing blow."
The grief, the sadness, the regret radiated off of his body. From this distance, Hayashi could feel his pain from what he did. But she didn't understand what brought him to kill this fae, and she drew away from Reiner slightly. Quite frankly, she didn't want to know.
"I had killed her. Her and her beautiful coat of silken white and the bluest orbs I've ever seen."
I just had to forget her. And then I was welcomed into Hrellia. None of you knew of my past, of the terror that had haunted me from the start of her ending. It seemed like the perfect ideal. I am sorry, Hayashi of Hrellia. I hope you can find it in yourself to forgive my misdeeds."
It all made sense, for the most part. Hayashi still wasn't sure about his mindset. Was something wrong with him, that even he didn't know? She narrowed her eyes on Reiner, watching as he got up again. What was she supposed to say? That it was alright he killed this wolf? It wasn't, not in the least bit. But the pity in her eyes, as well as the caution, was obvious. Honey vocals reached out to the hurting wolf.
"That's all fine and dandy, Reiner, but you should not be apologizing to me, young wolf. But rather, to yourself. And even Sicoya. You may have lied to me, but that is far less of a crime than what you have done to her and yourself."
She was wary of him, wary of why he acted like he did. But she was all for the life lessons, and she knew how he felt. Not in the same situation, but the same feelings. If she could go back and change what happened with her mate, she would in a heartbeat. The pain of what had unraveled was unbearable sometimes, but she was helpless to these feelings. She knew he felt the same.
"Do you think Sicoya would want you to be this way? To be shady, unreliable, unkempt, beaten down? If she felt any way for you as you did for her, she'd want you to live a proud life. To live for her, Reiner, and come to terms with what has happened. Not like I know you have been. Hard feelings are not meant to be kept, but forgiven and set free. I think it's time for you to start anew. We all make mistakes, but it's up to us how we deal with them. There's no way to change it, but rather live with it. But if you choose to live in pain or remembrance, is up to solely you."
Hayashi smiled, tilting her head toward his mangled leg and skinny figure, eyes sparkling. At this moment, she was a hypocrite. Shouldn't she listen to her own words? She knew she should let her mate go, to move on, but she couldn't do that, ever. She hoped Reiner would see past this a take her advice. A world of regret is no world at all.
"Starting with some meat on your bones and a little healing and rest."
o.o.c; Oh geez, over 1000 words? Crazaay. Sorry for the wait dear! <3

REINER "That's all fine and dandy, Reiner, but you should not be apologizing to me, young wolf. But rather, to yourself. And even Sicoya. You may have lied to me, but that is far less of a crime than what you have done to her and yourself."
As Hasyahi's voice reprimanded him, Reiner glanced over at the she-wolf, his emotions bubbling within. How had it all come to this? Even Hayashi, his once proud Alpha gazed at him with a mingling of distrust and a slow understanding. Surely she would know the loss of a loved one? Reiner lowered his head in shame nonetheless, his eyes clamped shut. Sicoya, I am sorry...
It was the most sincere the male had ever truly been. Still, the remorse in his heart was not entirely silenced as Hayashi continued her teachings.
The female shot him a soft gesture, a hint of kindness still lingering in her gaze.
"Starting with some meat on your bones and a little healing and rest."
But Reiner's blood was up as she had accused him. What of her? What of her and Xercese? He was certainly as important and treasured to her as Sicoya was to him. And yet she was the one telling him to forgive and forget! Hmph.
"And how would your dear Xercese feel if he saw you now...?"
It was a sharp retort, cunning in quickness and deliverance. She, of course, would see the irony of her own words. Reiner had not been blind those days, with the way she had followed her mate around with such adoring eyes as his own interest in her dwindled. It had soiled his image of his proud Alpha male; Xercese's way of gazing at that white vixen had been despicable. At one point Reiner had thought of flirting with Hayashi just to spark some feeling, some type of mutual regret in the male, but he had been the newest addition to the pack then and it had seemed rather inappropriate at the time. Heck, it probably wouldn't have even worked.
Reiner plopped back down on the ground, his storm grey eyes flickering a hint of annoyance. Hayashi had always flitted back and forth for Xercese's attention even after Mirage had captured his ragged heart. And why? He wasn't anything special, anything regal. He was another wolf in this hell everyone called life. Sure, he had been confident, sure of himself. Possibly attractive through her blue eyes and broken mind. But to run after him after the ultimate betrayal--after he asked Mirage to join his pack, to join him and lead alongside him--it was too much for Reiner to believe. Hayashi either loved him with a passion that no one wolf could dare fathom, or the leader herself was a little less for wear and tear. From what Micara had told him, Xercese had left nothing about his feelings to question. He was in his own world of shifting mirages and changing mirrors.
Reiner slowly turned his thoughts back to Hayashi. After his outburst would he still be allowed to stay here, in this pack? He didn't quite see anything else for himself; he knew this place wasn't exactly home, but with Hayashi here it at least seemed manageable. With a soft growl, Reiner spoke, less hostile than he had before.
"I think we both have things we need to forgive and forget."
The male's dark hued eyes bore into her, accepting her as his leader. And as such, Reiner would forgive himself only when she did.

Hayashi Pretending, someone else can save me from myself, i can't be who you are...[/blockquote] Reiner's head dropped in shame, in defeat as Hayashi spoke. But as she continued, she could see the defense building inside of him, the anger pouring out. An almost pouting expression shaped his face as he glowered at her, his red body rigid. Sure, she wasn't yelling apologies at him, but she was sympathizing with him all the same. He reminded Hayashi of a young wolf, rash in his actions as he was.
"And how would your dear Xercese feel if he saw you now...?"
The retort hit her like a dagger. Hayashi snapped to attention, her eyes flashing as a barking growl leapt from her throat. She towered over Reiner, head low, fur bristling. Hostility was obvious, anger impossible to miss. What place was he in to speak? After all, he was the one that offered himself up for judgment in the first place. He knew nothing about what they had, what happened, and how they felt. She spoke strongly, firmly in her honey voice.
"He'd be proud that I moved on with my life. You don't see me running through stranger's woods yelling for him, do you?" The alpha snorted tersely, eyes flickering with aggression. "I left. Without him. I didn't run." Hayashi flickered her attention to the left as tears flecked her sapphire eyes, gazing over her land, eyes glazed with pain and guilt and anger. Sadness crept into her hard lyrics.
"This is different. It was his choice, but Sicoya was your's. It was his decision for things to happen as they did. I always wish to change what unraveled, but I've dealt with the fact that's it's far too impossible now. You don't understand, Reiner." Hayashi focused back on the wolf without hostility, but her bodice remained rigid and crouched.
"I love him. I loved him with every fiber of my being, plus more. Ruling with him, raising the pups with him, it's all I ever wanted to do. I just wanted to be with him. He saved me, Reiner. He saved me from that Auction Rock and set me free. How could I ever repay him for that? He had me at hello." Hayashi grew distant, remembering those crazy nights with her mate. She yearned for those care-free days.
"I didn't only lose him, happiness lost me. I lost everyone close to me a Sobibor. My own pups. Can you be mad at me for having feelings? Is that such a crime, Reiner? I was the way I was because I lost everyone I loved. It made me weak, but how could it not?"
A warning growl bubbled from deep within her throat, stone eyes resting once again on the wolf in front of her. His eyes bore into hers as she spoke, firm. "You will not speak to me like that again if you wish to seek hospitality from me, you understand?" She paused.
"I think we both have things we need to forgive and forget."
Hayashi sighed, her composure gained once again. "There are some things we cannot forget, young wolf." She took a leap away from him, turned back to peer at him. She beckoned him stiffly with her delicate head before continuing into the forest.
"Come. Let's eat before I decide to leave you to the crows."

REINER When Hayashi turned back to him those blue eyes were aflame with passion, bursting with anger and unrestrained hostility that crept through her voice. It hit the air with a sour taste and made Reiner's pelt ripple with a timid uncertainty. Maybe he'd pushed the boundaries a little too far. Hayashi's voice pounded through the void between the pair, harsh and discordant in comparison to her honey-lathered lyrics earlier.
"He'd be proud that I moved on with my life. You don't see me running through stranger's woods yelling for him, do you?"
Reiner had no verbal response, his eyes only smoldering a brighter intensity as his claws shifted in agitation under him.
"I left. Without him. I didn't run. This is different. It was his choice, but Sicoya was your's. It was his decision for things to happen as they did. I always wish to change what unraveled, but I've dealt with the fact that's it's far too impossible now. You don't understand, Reiner."
How could he not understand? He knew the heart breaking sorrow that washed over him for nights at a time as he tortured himself with the idea of her angelic death at his own mercy. He knew all too well the sharp sting of remorse, how deep it cut him, how he still wore the scars on his trampeled heart. It was all too clear to Reiner that they were more in tune with each other than the she-wolf before him realized.
"I love him. I loved him with every fiber of my being, plus more. Ruling with him, raising the pups with him, it's all I ever wanted to do. I just wanted to be with him. He saved me, Reiner. He saved me from that Auction Rock and set me free. How could I ever repay him for that? He had me at hello."
For a breif moment it seemed as if Reiner had gone with Hayashi's memories, back to the days in Sobibor slavery and Hrellia freedom, with Xercese's strong voice at the head of the pack, Hayashi's less confident figure taking up the coveted right spot. This was their land, their empire to build and care for and how lucky she was! That such a confident wolf loved her, offered her freedom, set her wings soaring into the sky. Reiner's own thoughts flashed ones of Sicoya with her proud frame leaning on his as they looked at the stars, the rolling forests of Hrellia morphing into the meadow grasses of his old pack. It seemed so long ago now...
"I didn't only lose him, happiness lost me. I lost everyone close to me a Sobibor. My own pups. Can you be mad at me for having feelings? Is that such a crime, Reiner? I was the way I was because I lost everyone I loved. It made me weak, but how could it not?"
Hayashi paused with dramatic effect and Reiner's heart fluttered tightly in his chest, a captured bird wishing to fly. Regardless of whether or not this was truly home, he didn't care. He needed Hayashi to help him through his greif, his pain. Their pain.
"You will not speak to me like that again if you wish to seek hospitality from me, you understand?"
"Crystal clear, Hayashi."
As Hayashi turned away a soft whisper slipped off Reiner's lips, his eyes aglaze as his figure leaned forward to catch his balence. His paws scrabbled painfully in the dirt but he forced himself to follow her, the agony of losing Sicoya fresh in his mind.
"There are some things we cannot forget, young wolf."
Don't I know it. There was no bringing her back. Never again would her azure colored eyes glitter a radient, fiesty behavior as he growled playfully and chased her over hillsides and into rolling valleys. Never again would she nudge him with a sweet lovingness, her tail flippped gently under his nose, tender and adorable. And it was his fault! He'd done it to himself. Reiner was his own worst enemy.
"Come. Let's eat before I decide to leave you to the crows."
Reiner grudingly padded along behind the beige vixen, his pelt rippling with discontent. Where had this confrontation gotten him? Nowhere. Hayashi was upset with him, Sicoya still dead. Maybe this was time to start anew. Start a new beginning. Reiner, his mind drugged on the idea of something bold and Hayashi's scent in him, trotted forward, shooting the Alpha a sidelong glance, his voice soft.
"No matter what he thinks, your beautiful."
Maybe she could help him move on. Just maybe.

Hayashi Pretending, someone else can save me from myself, i can't be who you are...[/blockquote] The wolf was placid, but she could tell he was listening, living, every word she said to him, all that she explained. His eyes looked distant, and almost reflected her past in them as she gazed. They showed that he remembered how life was, but yet going beyond to his life she knew nothing about. With his love, Sicoya. With his pain, as she recalled hers. Oh yes, she knew. Oh, what she wouldn't give to bury herself in her mate's fur once again, to breathe his scent, to gaze in those eyes... it seemed just like yesterday this was possible, just like yesterday that her world was whole again.
Hayashi, wrapped up in her thoughts, didn't expect him to speak when he did. Her fur bristled a little as he spoke.
"Crystal clear, Hayashi."
As she turned away, she could hear him scrambling behind her, his emotions radiating off of his skin. She could feel his pain, grief, discontent, but almost... hope. Sine when was he hopeful? In moments, Reiner had padded up to her side, gazing her direction, murmuring a few words.
"No matter what he thinks, your beautiful."
They sentence made Hayashi stop in her tracks. She couldn't explain why, but it did. She had never thought herself truly beautiful, or even worth anything. Of course, the masters loved her, but how was that beauty? To her, it was just that she was useful to them, what they wanted. But outside of slave life, she was plain, stark. What was truly remarkable about her? Without meeting his gaze, Hayashi nodded once with a half-smile.
"Thank you, Reiner."
The fem continued walking, only to pause again at a rustle in the bushes to her left. By instinct, Hayashi lowered her frame to the ground, stepping forward tenderly. In moments, she had forgot about the wolf beside her. Her eyes spotted a glimpse of the culprit, a raccoon snuffling about in the shrub, it's back turned. Taking her chance, Hayashi bolted smoothly off after the animal, focused purely on her chase. Within seconds, she overcame the fleeing mammal, pounced, and had it in her jaw.
Hayashi raised her head, spotting Reiner yards away. She trotted back to him, dropping the limp animal at his paws.
"Eat."
